Most schemes assess applicants against the following baseline:

- Qualifications or skills that match the route you are applying under
- For employer sponsored routes: a signed contract covering job title, duties, salary and duration
- For talent schemes: transcripts, income records or graduation evidence as required by the scheme
- For the Investment Entrepreneur Visa: a credible business plan, proof of capital and an active role in the business
